Slovenian partners of the European project IFIGENEIA held their first meeting of the Slovenian Hub (SLO HUB) in Ljubljana earlier this spring, bringing together key stakeholders from nuclear physics, medical physics, radiology, radioisotope research, and radiopharmacy. The meeting marked the official launch of national coordination activities aimed at establishing the Slovenian Centre of Excellence for sustainable radioisotope production.
The event gathered representatives of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ljubljana, the University Medical Centre Ljubljana, the Jožef Stefan Institute, the Cosylab d. d., the Engineering Academy of Slovenia, the Slovenian Academy of Engineering, and the Slovenian Innovation Hub, European Economic Interest Grouping, SIS EGIZ. Participants discussed the strategic framework for collaboration, defined partner roles, and outlined next steps for the development of advanced infrastructure to support research, education, and applications in healthcare and industry.
The meeting underlined the partners’ commitment to long-term cooperation, knowledge transfer, and strengthening national expertise in accelerator development, radiopharmaceutical research, and innovation management. Moving forward, the SLO HUB will serve as the focal point for coordinating Slovenian activities and fostering strong connections with international research centres and IFIGENEIA hubs in Greece and Cyprus.
