The Coordination Team of the IFIGENEIA Project (Prof. Chara Petridou, Prof. Dimos Sampsonidis, Dr Yannis Papaphilippou and Dr. Fanouria Antoniou) carried out a visit to the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ), marking an important milestone in the implementation of the project. The visit was organised by Prof. João Seco, who provided a comprehensive overview of the DKFZ facilities and research activities relevant to IFIGENEIA.
The programme included visits to key biomedical infrastructures and experimental platforms, including state-of the art cancer treatment facilities, allowing for in-depth exchanges on current technical capabilities and ongoing developments. These sessions enabled the coordination team to better contextualise the project objectives within DKFZ’s research environment and to identify synergies with existing and planned activities.
In addition, detailed and thorough discussions were held on the future evolution of the project. These exchanges addressed scientific priorities, coordination between work packages, and strategic aspects related to the next implementation phases. The visit therefore served as a critical checkpoint, supporting alignment across partners and reinforcing a shared understanding of project goals, timelines, and expected outcomes.
Overall, the visit contributed significantly to strengthening collaboration within the consortium and ensuring coherence between scientific ambition and practical implementation, thereby supporting the successful continuation of the IFIGENEIA project.
