The IFIGENEIA Project Coordination Team met with Slovenian partners in Ljubljana on 6 May 2026, opening the 2nd Annual Meeting programme in Slovenia.

On 6 May 2026, the IFIGENEIA Project Coordination Team met with the Slovenian partners in Ljubljana, marking the opening day of the 2nd IFIGENEIA Annual Meeting in Slovenia.

The meeting, hosted at Cosylab, provided a focused setting for coordination between the project leadership and the Slovenian hub. Discussions addressed the contribution of Slovenian partners to the development of the project’s Excellence Hub, the alignment of scientific and technological activities, and the next steps in strengthening regional capacity for LINAC-based radioisotope production.

Slovenian partners bring complementary expertise to IFIGENEIA. The Jožef Stefan Institute contributes research infrastructure, education and dissemination activities. The University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Medicine, leads work on radioisotope production and radiopharmaceuticals. Cosylab contributes experience in control systems for demanding accelerator and medical technology environments. The Slovenian Academy of Engineering supports strategic engineering perspectives, while the Slovenian Innovation Hub strengthens ecosystem engagement, stakeholder dialogue and pathways for future uptake.

After the coordination meeting, partners visited the Reactor Centre Ljubljana, including the TRIGA reactor and Tandetron accelerator facilities. The visit offered insight into Slovenian research infrastructure and technical know-how relevant to nuclear science, accelerator technologies and radiopharmaceutical development.

The exchange helped connect the project’s long-term European roadmap with existing capacities in Slovenia. It also reinforced the importance of cooperation between research organisations, technology companies, engineering expertise and innovation actors in building future infrastructure for sustainable radioisotope production.

This first day set the stage for the following consortium sessions dedicated to project management, LINAC design, radioisotope production, radiopharmaceuticals, education, business planning and mentorship.
