Slovenian Innovation Hub – European Economic Interest Grouping (SIH EEIG) acts as a lighthouse within the European innovation ecosystem, guiding businesses, research institutions, and other stakeholders working with advanced technologies toward smoother and faster transitions to higher Technology Readiness Levels (TRLs). SIH EEIG enables the effective translation of scientific knowledge into real-world applications. With its extensive expertise, broad international network, and transdisciplinary approach, it supports partners in navigating complex innovation processes, overcoming systemic barriers, and illuminating their path to success. SIH EEIG is the national coordinator of the Strategic Research Innovation Partnership (SRIP) for Health – Medicine, an initiative within Slovenia’s Smart Specialisation Strategy (S5). The partnership focuses on driving innovation in key domains such as cancer treatment, personalised medicine, biopharmaceutical development, active and healthy ageing, and herbal-based products and natural cosmetics.

In addition to coordinating SRIP activities, SIH EEIG:

  • coordinates Reference Site Slovenia 3* within the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing (EIP on AHA), promoting wellbeing and healthy lifestyles as essential pillars of the silver economy;
  • leads a pilot project Mobile Health (R )evolution within Smart Health of the Vanguard Initiative, and participates in Trace Med pilot, fostering interregional innovation collaboration;
  • is a member of Medic Nest, a European mega platform for precision medicine development.

SIH EEIG supports the development of collaborative innovation initiatives by connecting stakeholders from research, industry, and the public sector. Through its international network and ecosystem activities, it facilitates partnership building and engagement in European and national innovation programmes, helping its members strengthen their international visibility and cooperation opportunities.

The organisation is actively involved in several EU-funded projects, including IN-4-AHA (H2020), Senior Eco-Nect (HORIZON EIE), HealthChain (I3), and GeneH (WIDERA), enhancing cross-border collaboration, co-creation, and knowledge transfer.

SIH EEIG is also part of several European and global innovation networks, including ECCP, ECHAlliance, SBRA, Vanguard Initiative, RSCN, and is a founding member of the Twins International Multihelix (TIM) meta-cluster, which connects innovation ecosystems across Europe, North America, and Asia. Through its strategic, systemic, and inclusive approach, SIH EEIG strengthens Slovenia’s innovation capacity and international competitiveness while supporting transformative, transdisciplinary, and sustainable development.

Within the IFIGENEIA project, SIH EEIG contributes mainly to non-scientific activities, particularly in communication, dissemination, mentoring and capacity-building activities. By supporting knowledge exchange, stakeholder engagement, and mentoring actions, SIH EEIG helps ensuring that project outcomes are widely communicated, socially inclusive, and well embedded in broader innovation ecosystems, reinforcing the long-term impact and sustainability of IFIGENEIA.
